Maureen’s Message to Clients:
I believe that counseling starts with building connections with therapists who recognize cultural components and the significance of language. As a therapist, I rely on my knowledge of the Latina/o community to communicate with clients about mental health stigma, develop trust, and discuss resources available. I am able to provide therapy in English and Spanish for those who wish to conduct sessions fully in Spanish. In my therapy work, I take a nonjudgemental approach and allow you to be you.
I have worked with children, teens/adolescents, and adults navigating depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress, and trauma. I utilize a strengths-oriented approach that combines a multicultural perspective to be able to provide culturally sensitive therapy to my clients. I have previously lead grief groups in English and in Spanish around grief and healing from loss.
A goal of mine is for therapy to feel like a welcoming and safe space. Recognizing that everyone has strengths that can aid in their healing journey as they navigate the world of mental health. A fun fact about me is a hobby I picked up recently has been knitting and caring for my (potentially way too many) plants!
