Lana James, MA- MFT-LP

CliINICAL therapist

Lana James is a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT-LP) in the state of New York with a provisional license. After two decades serving in NY public schools as a teacher and administrator, Lana has pursued her passion to help others achieve self-empowerment by cultivating mental health through psychoeducation. 

 

Lana is a client-centered therapist, creating an inspirational safe space for self discovery through individualized plans with eclectic approaches that fit client interests and needs. Lana prioritizes providing culturally relevant care that honors all clients’ unique experiences, perspectives, and spirituality.

 

Lana’s areas of expertise include: teen & young adult issues (anxiety, post-secondary planning, college & career stress, relationships, sexuality), family issues (parenting, blended families, divorce), change of career/ life coaching, couples (pre-marital, newlyweds, long-term, polyamorous, interracial, LGBTQ, sex therapy).

 

Lana’s primary modalities include but are not limited to: ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Art Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Gottman Method, Imago Relationship Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and SFT (Solution Focused Therapy) informed interventions.

Our minds are amazing tools capable of healing, creating, self-expression, self-actualization, making new connections, and innovation. 

 

We often and easily self-care for our bodies – go to the gym/ salon/barber, adapt a clothing style, shower/ shave/ scent yet many of us neglect the mind connection to health.
